Saint-Gobain to invest £20m for new Celotex insulation production facility

Saint-Gobain UK and Ireland, the leader in the habitat and construction materials market are to invest £20million in a production facility for insulation specialists Celotex.

A planning application has been submitted for a brand new production facility for Celotex, the UK’s largest supplier of PIR insulation boards. This new facility will be located next to Saint-Gobain’s Glass manufacturing facility in Eggborough, with expected production due to begin in Spring 2017.

Celotex has been operating successfully for 90 years and making PIR in the UK since 1980. The company now employs over 220 people at its only production site in Suffolk, where there are two similar production lines to the one that will be constructed at the new facility in Eggborough. Celotex has a strong focus on innovation, technical support to the construction industry and delivering high standards of customer service. This investment will enable Celotex to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the developing market for insulation products in the UK, while also meeting the future needs of its customers.

The development will create up to 50 jobs in the local area, with a further 50 in local supplier and contractor networks, in addition to the 210 jobs already provided by Saint-Gobain at Saint-Gobain’s Glass Production site in Eggborough.

Mike Chaldecott, General Delegate for Saint-Gobain in the UK & Ireland, said: “Celotex has continued to go from strength to strength in the last few years, and we’re delighted to continue to invest in the business to enable Celotex to meet the growing needs of its customers and the increasing demand in the market for innovative, high-performing insulation.”

Craig Chambers, Managing Director for Celotex added: “We are hopeful that Selby District Council will approve the plans so that we can begin groundworks, with a view to opening the new facility in Spring 2017. We have done a considerable amount of detailed work before submitting the application in order to model vehicle movements into the site, conduct detailed ecological surveys and consider landscaping around the new facility.

“This is great news for our customers and will enable us to continue to provide first-class service and technical support to our customers throughout the UK and provide a strong and sustainable base for our continued growth.”

There will be a wide variety of job opportunities within the site, from operators and engineers to a site management team with other specialist expertise including health & safety, WCM (World Class Manufacturing), quality control and manufacturing.
